A Warm Welcome from Bovingdon Bowls Club

Bovingdon Bowls Club was founded in 1952. With over 100 bowling and associate members, in addition to the competitive and friendly bowls, we hold social events throughout the year. Located in the heart of the Village we have an all-weather surface that enables us to play competitive bowls all year around.

We have been affiliated to Bowls England and Hertfordshire County Bowls since the club was formed. Bovingdon play competitive bowls matches through the Watford and District Bowls Association and now have 3 teams competing in the Watford Outdoor Vets League.

During the summer months our Ladies and Men compete at all levels, and we offer new bowlers looking to join a mix of friendly matches offering support and coaching from our more experienced bowlers. This year we have over 50 friendly matches lined up.

Our all-weather playing surface enables us to play competitive bowls all year round. We host both Thursday and Sunday Winter Leagues with the latter Sunday league now over 30 years old. Many of our neighbouring bowls clubs play at Bovingdon throughout the winter months all competing to become Winter League Champions. "In the middle of winter, a bowl of piping hot soup and a roll after 9 ends on a Sunday morning is something no bowler should ever miss out on".

It's just not on the rink that makes Bovingdon special, we offer a year-round social diary of events from bingo, live music, quiz nights, summer BBQs and Friday social evenings. Throughout the Winter months and up to the summer our darts team compete in the Bovingdon Friendly darts league. We have friendly bar staff, running a fully stocked bar and serving drinks at competitive club prices.

Our first day is on Saturday 19th April 10:00-14:00, followed shortly after on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 10:00-14:00. All you need is a pair of trainers or soft flat soled shoes. Our team of helpers and coaches will make it a fun and enjoyable experience.
